Slope Crack Propagation Law and Numerical Simulation of Expansive Soil under Wetting–Drying Cycles

This study investigated the crack propagation law of expansive soil slopes under drying–wetting conditions and influence cracks on by conducting a large-scale indoor slope test subjected to cycles. The change in moisture content at different depths during cycles was monitored using sensor, variation drying process measured depth detector. slope’s surface were processed self-made binarization program, evolution mechanism analyzed. rainfall-induced fractured used obtain soils, analyze dry–wet cycle failure mode soil. quantified binary processing, area ratio cracked intact calculated. Finally, PFC simulation software with quantitative analysis results as parameters, it confirmed that greater number cycles, cracks, damage slope.
